Gambier trustees advance OCP changes for March review
The committee approved a revised workplan focused on Squamish Nation recommendations and limited public engagement later in 2026.

The Gambier Island Local Trust Committee approved a revised workplan for its Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw review, with draft amendments to be considered in March 2026. [1]
The workplan includes references to Cha7élkwnech (Gambier) Island, a land acknowledgment, commitments to reconciliation and recognition of the impacts of settlement, protected areas and residential development on First Nations rights and title. [1]
The committee also approved referring draft shoreline development permit and heritage conservation area guidelines to the Advisory Planning Commission and undertaking limited public engagement on those guidelines in summer 2026. [1]
Staff were asked to prepare draft bylaw language for consideration at the March 24, 2026 regular business meeting and to post annotated draft documents and the revised January 2026 Project Charter to the project website. [1]
