Committee sends investment policy to Trust Council
The Financial Planning Committee voted to forward a draft policy for approval after discussing ethical investment, investment procedures and which investments the policy permits.

The committee voted to send a draft investment policy to Islands Trust Council for approval, with amendments made during its August 19 meeting. The minutes say the motion carried; they also note that the minutes are a draft and are not official until adopted at a subsequent meeting.[1]
Staff told the committee the policy would document investment practices that had been followed for years but not set out in a policy. The committee discussed whether to include provisions on ethical or environmentally friendly investments and whether to clarify the policy’s references to securities.[2]
Trustees raised the possibility of prioritizing ethical investments. Staff said the Trust does not invest in stocks and described its investments as short-term and liquid; the transcript records the discussion but does not include the final amended policy text.[2]
