Gambier committee sends shoreline permit draft back for review
The committee asked staff to consult the Squamish Nation on draft shoreline rules and prepare an annotated document for its review before further public engagement.

Staff will re-engage with the Squamish Nation Rights and Title Department on draft shoreline development permit area language, then bring any suggested amendments back to the Gambier Island Local Trust Committee for consideration before further public engagement.[1]
The committee also asked staff to prepare an annotated draft using the March 25 language and recommendations from the Advisory Planning Commission and the Nation, along with draft Official Community Plan vision and policy language supporting shoreline protection.[1]
The minutes say staff described the draft as guidance for environmentally responsible shoreline development and said the project was not focused on removing existing docks, but on possible regulation of new alterations and construction in shoreline and marine areas.[1]
During public comments, speakers raised concerns about communication, representation in the planning process and possible effects on docks. Chair Laura Patrick said public engagement was forthcoming and that the meeting was a regular business meeting, not a public hearing.[1]
