The Gambier Island Local Trust Committee deferred further consideration of proposed bylaws 153 and 154 to its October 1, 2024 meeting, after trustees said they needed time to review amendments and submissions from the public hearing.[1]
The proposed bylaws would establish a shoreline development permit area extending 15 metres inland and 100 metres seaward from the natural boundary of the sea, with Plumper Cove Provincial Park and areas zoned Marine Conservation excluded.[1]
The proposed land-use changes would limit structures in the setback area to 5 square metres, plus one set of stairs or walkway for access, and change rules for dock setbacks and maximum float areas.[1]
The minutes record that the committee carried a motion to defer the bylaws, then approved a separate motion asking staff to draft a business case for the 2025/26 fiscal year focused on the concluding phase of the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw project.[1]
