The Gambier Local Trust Committee endorsed several priorities for its Official Community Plan review, including adding Gambier references and an appropriate land acknowledgement, and recognizing the impacts of settlement, protected areas and residential development on First Nations rights and title.[1]
The committee also endorsed maintaining climate-change policies, adding references to reduced access to harvest areas and food insecurity, aligning with neighbouring communities’ zero-net-emissions targets, and separating stormwater and water-conservation objectives.[1]
On biodiversity, trustees endorsed exploring archaeological assessments for rezoning applications that increase density or intensity of use, and requiring biophysical inventories for such applications.[1]
The minutes say staff will prepare recommendations on the reviewed items for the committee’s October meeting; further discussion of the agenda item was deferred to the next business meeting.[1]
In the meeting recording, Chair Peter Luckham said the committee needed to direct staff through resolutions when asking them to do work, and invited submissions for consideration in the ongoing OCP process.[2]

Do bring to the attention of the Gambria LTC issues where you need some attention, because although we certainly are keen to collaborate and cooperate and work together, if we're directing staff to do things, we need to direct staff to do things.
