The Gambier Island Local Trust Committee voted to reduce the proposed maximum residential dock size in the P12 zone to 47 square metres and align its definition with those used for other zones. The committee also voted to bring P12 residential-dock regulations into conformity with the proposed rules for other zones.[1]

The committee voted to reduce the proposed maximum coverage area for institutional dock facilities in the M2(b) zone to 1,500 square metres, matching the limit contemplated for P12. The minutes record that the three motions carried.[1]

Trustees discussed the proposed bylaw’s repair-and-maintenance exemption, including whether its wording was clear about replacement of building components and work within existing footprints. The Regional Planning Manager suggested staff bring back wording incorporating points from the discussion.[1]

The minutes say the committee noted that changing permitted distances between docks was outside the Islands Trust’s mandate and under federal jurisdiction. Trustees also discussed preparing a communications piece or pamphlet for Keats residents, especially dock owners.[1]

The special meeting was held electronically on October 31, 2023, and adjourned at 11:20 a.m.[1]
